The Grosse Pointe Academy student body has elected student council officers for the 2011-12 school year.

“It was a particularly tough race this year,” said student council advisor Sasha Murphy. “We had 22 students running for office. In order to campaign for votes, students have to make posters and write a speech. Getting up in front of the entire middle school to present your speech is a great experience for everyone who participates. Whether they win or not, students are still demonstrating leadership and initiative.”   

The new officers are Leonie Leslie, president, Hiram Jackson, vice president, Nicholas Bojarczyk, secretary and Jacob Mantela, treasurer.
