The Junior League of Detroit, Inc. (JLD) is pleased to announce the following grants were made in 2012 through its Community Assistance Grants program:
Grant funds used to provide Southwest Dance students opportunities to see professional dance performances and study with guest artists.
Grant funds used to purchase lessons supplies to implement a comprehensive recycling program for three schools in Detroit as well as a complimentary environmental education program.
Grant funds used to provide food including breakfast, lunch and supper during a day-long event where Detroit Children's Choir children will take part in a unique opportunity to be involved in the Singers of United Lands Program.
Grant funds used to provide funding to cover costumes/props and sound expenses for ten assemblies at Detroit Public Schools which promote literacy by bringing top quality literature to life with interactive readers' theater style.
Grants funds to cover one performance, museum tour and puppet making workshop for seventy students, teachers and chaperones.
Grant funds used to cover the skill development outings and in-house learning activities part of the Life Skills program.
The JLD distributes grants through its Community Assistance Grants program on a quarterly basis. Upcoming 2013 application deadlines are February 1 and May 1. Eligible organizations must have an office(s) in Wayne County and provide services within Wayne County, or have 75% of their clients residing in Wayne County and must provide services to improve the health and welfare of children. The JLD’s Community Assistance Grants program supports the JLD's efforts to participate in community-basted collaborative partnerships that work to broaden the educational, cultural, recreational, and health opportunities for children living in Wayne county and promote volunteerism.
