Shelter Pets at Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society Enjoy an Early Thanksgiving

The homeless pets in the care of the Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society in Harper Woods enjoyed a special Thanksgiving feast this weekend, courtesy of the Best Friends Pet Care in Clinton Township.  The meal featured roasted turkey, vegetable sides and sweet potatoes.

The turkey dinner for pets is a holiday tradition at Best Friends, which hosts the feast every year for family pets boarding over Thanksgiving at its pet care center. “We know pets are part of the family, and if they were at home over the holiday, they’d be enjoying treats from the family dinner table,” said Best Friends Manager Cathy Lee.

In the spirit of sharing, Best Friends staff decided to prepare turkey dinners especially for the shelter pets.  Best Friends staffers visited the shelter to serve the meal, and even hand-fed some of the dogs and cats.

“We wish every dog could have Thanksgiving dinner, especially those waiting for forever homes,” said Lee.  “We’re happy to be able to share the holiday with them.”

Best Friends Pet Care offers boarding, grooming and doggy day camp at 33711 Harper Avenue, Clinton Township.  For information, visit www.bestfriendspetcare.com.
