1200 In Grosse Pointe Woods WIthout Power

The same neighborhood northeast of Mack Avenue and Vernier Road is out of power and the estimated restoration is 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to DTE's outage map.

Approximately 1,200 DTE customers in Grosse Pointe Woods are without power following what one resident described as a loud boom earlier this afternoon.

The DTE outage map shows the estimated restoration to be between 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The outage is in the neighborhood that has been plagued with power problems for years.

Earlier this summer, the neighborhood was without power for a weekend during one of the heat waves. The outage spurred residents and business owners to share their unhappiness with Grosse Pointe Woods council.

The council requested informational follow-up meetings for the community that will allow residents to have details about what happened with the weekend outage. Mayor Robert Novitke said late last week that a specific date had yet to be set.

Related to today's outage, DTE crews have been spotted working in the area. A large crew was working near Goethe and Roslyn.

Patch is attempting to get more information about what caused today's outage.

The crew near Goethe and Roslyn are telephone crews, not dte. I talked with a dte supervisor and supposedly the power is out due to a fallen tree. So where is the fallen tree? branch?

1720 Hampton, it was actually a trim crew that works for DTE that dropped a log and severed the line

At 4.20 per gallon for gas I think that we should be reimbursed for the cost to run our generators. During the last power outage my parents lost power a day earlier than we did on Hidden Lane. They borrowed our generator then our power went out. They needed it more than we did, but we lost all the contents of our refrigerator with no reimbursement

It's 7:35 p.m. Wednesday evening. Just talked to friends on the 1300 block of Hollywood and the 1400 block of Roslyn and their households both still are OUT of POWER. One's on a generator and I'm about to take my jenny on loan to some other folks. A tree fell?? These folks tell me the power was out early Wednesday. The traffic light at Vernier and Marter Rd. is OUT and there was a stop sign planted alongside the road early this afternoon. The traffic light at Vernier had a generator attached at 5 p.m. Good old Grosse Pointe Woods administration. They're really making DTE sit up and take notice! More fodder for the DTE public hearing at city hall - if it ever happens.

Not sure what I am more surprised about, that you are complaining about GPW council or that you have friends.

Wow. Mr. waldmeir needs a hobby. Maybe AP or Reuters will pick up your riveting reporting of what will be forever known as The Great GPW Power Crisis of 2012! Never before have I seen such a town crier in all his glory...what a busybody! Tell me Pete, please tell me-do you also have "friends" on the 600 block of Sunningdale too? I simply HAVE to now how much money the 7 year old girl made on her lemonade stand there Saturday-AND- is she paying taxes on it? Go bulldog, go!

DDPIII, although I do find your rant against Mr. Waldmeir hilarious, please don't put your self on his level. He is a bully, and he is not going to change. I hate to see his juvenile behavior bringing others down to his pathetically low level.

You guys are a scream. Same dozen people talking to each other on the Internet. Why don't you get out of the house once in a while and see how REAL people live. You'd be amazed at how isolated you are from reality..

So Pete do "real" people sit around all day and complain about the GPW Council and mayor, regardless of how irrelevant they may be to the story? I guess I shouldn't be so hard on you, it's clear your mind is as sharp as a bowling ball. Senility is a terrible thing to watch unfold, I wish you well in your battle against it.
