Daylight Saving Ends this Weekend

The clocks are rolling back an hour this time, think of all the things you can do around Grosse Pointe with that spare 60 minutes!

Those 7:30 a.m. commutes will get darker before they get lighter when Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday.

Remember, you’ll "fall back" and set your clocks back one hour. Many electronic devices automatically adjust when Daylight Saving Time begins or ends. It begins again on March 10, 2013.

That extra hour gives you a chance to get out around Grosse Pointe and have some fun. Find weekend events in our community calendar, visit a new restaurant in our directory, or get a head start on your holiday shopping at some of the new businesses in our area.

When you change your clocks in the fall and spring, it’s also a good time to change smoke detector batteries and check to make sure device are in working order.

Arizona, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, U.S. Virgin Islands and American Samoa do not observe Daylight Saving Time. Around the world, about 75 countries and territories have at least one location that observes daylight saving time, according to TimeandDate.com. On the other hand, 164 don't observe the time change at all.
