Entrepreneurs' Organization Announces Competition for Local Students

Students will give business professionals the hard sell as they compete to have their project be named the best business idea.

The Detroit arm of the Entrepreneurs' Organization is calling for local student entrepreneurs to pitch their best business opportunities at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club and, if they're lucky, the New York Stock Exchange.

The Aug. 22 event is just the first round in a global competition where high school and college students pitch their business idea to professionals. The winner of the competition will move on to a regional round hosted at the MGM Grand Casino in Detroit the following month. The student that advances from the regional will join 24 peers from across the globe in an all-expenses paid trip to the New York Stock Exchange in November.

But aside from being purely competitive, the event will give feedback and advice to young entrepreneurs on their ideas from veterans and professionals in business.

Students have until Aug. 1 to register at the EO website for the competition.
