Fundraiser: GP Gymnasts Flip for a Cure

Grosse Pointe United Gymnastics team up with gymnasts from Troy Athens and Avondale to raise money for the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute.

North sophomore Emily Huguenin's aunt Michelle passed away after a long battle with breast cancer. Emily said, "She lived in the moment and always was always positive no matter what. She was a great role model and I love her very much."

Grosse Pointe gymnasts are joining forces with gymnasts from Troy, Troy Athens and Avondale to raise money for a good cause after their coach made it the team's mission to host charity events this season.

Avondale High School, Troy and Troy Athens have joined the Grosse Pointe United team to compete in the Flipping for a Cure-Pink Meet Feb. 15. Tickets are $5 and all proceeds will go to the Karmanos Cancer Institute.

Each gymnast is honoring a breast cancer victim in the Flip for a Cure meet, which is at 7 p.m. Feb. 15 at Grosse Pointe North High School.
