Grosse Pointe Farms police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who collapsed and died while jogging on Grosse Pointe Boulevard on Friday night.
Grosse Pointe Farms Lt. Richard Rosati said an unidentified white male—about 6-feet-1 and 180 pounds and in his mid 60s—collapsed at about 8:50 p.m. Friday while running east on Grosse Pointe Boulevard near Hall Place.
Police said the man had blue eyes and gray hair, was of slender build, and was wearing dark shorts and a gray T-shirt, according to a Nixle report.
The T-shirt had a graphic with the letters "IMMUNI-T." The letters "ICS" were in the lower corner of the shirt.
Grosse Pointe Farms police released a sketch of the man on Saturday night.
A passing motorist saw the man fall, called emergency personnel and tried to assist him.
Rosati said police and medics soon arrived on the scene, where they performed CPR on the man.
The man was taken to St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, where he was pronounced dead.
Anyone with information about the man’s identity is asked to call Grosse Pointe Farms police at 313-885-2100.

Why was he transported to St. John when the Cottage/Henry Ford was right across the street?

Cottage isn't a level 2 trauma like St. John is. They are better equipped to handle a situation like this.

My guess would because Cottage is no longer a true hospital and St Johns has more tertiary care and a trauma center.

Cause of Death: Running
Really? I'm pretty sure that's not in the medical examiner's lexicon.
