Grosse Pointe North Girls Swimming Loses to Mercy High

Despite a team loss, North's 200-yard individual medley team of Asimakis, Kohler, Ellis and Mathews achieve a Division 2 state qualifying time as did Asimakis on the 100-yard butterfly.

 

 

The Grosse Pointe North Girls Swimming and Diving Team dropped a 138-47 decision to 2011 D1 state champion Mercy High School Tuesday night.

The North 200-yard individual medley team of Olivia Asimakis. Katelyn Kohler, Julia Ellis and Emma Mathews achieved a Division 2 State Qualifying time as did Olivia Asimakis on the 100-yard butterfly.

Season best performances were recorded in the following events:

50-yard freestyle: Emma Mathews,Katelyn Kohler, Julia Ellis, Gabby Burchett, Stephanie Shea, Jillian Fenner and Gabrielle Shimko

100-yard freestyle: Olivia Asimakis, Kayleigh Gehlert, Julia Elllis, Karyn  Schwartz, and Jillian Fenner

200-yard freestyle: Stephanie Shea, Allison Fly, Hannah Atherton, Grace Addy and Ann Marie Nicholson

500-yard freestyle: Hannah Atherton

100-yard backstroke: Caroline Tripp and Blake Moncur

100-yard breastroke: Sydney Eger, Amber Giesking, and Claire Schaden

100-yard butterfly: Olivia Asimakis, Laura Dobbs, Gabrielle Shimko and Allison Fly

200-yard individual medley: Juliette Tripp, Brooke Ford, Sydney Eger, Emily Hoshaw, and Mary Emerick

North finished the dual meet season with a 5-6 (0-4 MAC Red) dual meet record.

Just to let you know, it's not "Our Lady of Mercy High School" it's just "Mercy High School." I think the school changed its name when it moved from the city to Farmington in 1965.

Just for the sake of accuracy.
