During an evening ceremony on Dec. 6, the Grosse Pointe North Chapter of the National Honor Society inducted 109 new students.
It was an evening to recognize excellence in scholarship, character, leadership and service when the Grosse Pointe North High School chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) inducted 109 new members on Dec. 6.
In his welcome address, Principal Tom Tobe congratulated the students selected for induction but also reminded them that this achievement comes with a greater responsibility of being roles models at North.
NHS officers Kimberly Cusmano, Bobby Mulpari, Julia Ellis and Savannah Ransome each gave a short speech about one of the four NHS pillars: scholarship, character, leadership and service.
Eric Balle, NHS President, introduced the evening's keynote speaker and North faculty member, Diane Montgomery. Montgomery, a beloved cross country and track coach at Grosse Pointe North, spoke about finding life satifaction and happiness through self-awareness, getting out of one's comfort zone and self- discipline.
The evening culminated with the presentation of a NHS certificate to each of the inductees as they crossed the stage in the Grosse Pointe Performing Arts Center.
