Grosse Pointe Park Resident Bob Bashara Sentenced for Hiring Hitman

Grosse Pointe Park resident Bob Bashara was sentenced this morning on a charge that he hired a hitman to kill Joe Gentz, the handyman charged with killing Bashara's wife last January.
Today, Bashara was sentenced to serve 80 to 240 months in prison for the crime.
The Detroit Free Press reported that Bashara said in court, "I am truly and humbly sorry for my actions. I apologize to this court. I apologize to Mr. Gentz. I apologize to my family and friends."
According to the Detroit News, Bashara told Wayne County Circuit Judge Bruce U. Morrow, "I understand I must pay for what I have done. I absolutely stand before you and my family and the world, to take responsibility for my actions. I can't tell you how ashamed I am of what I did and how regretful I am of my actions, sir."
On Oct. 11, Bashara pleaded guilty to the charge of solicitation of murder. He admitted to attempting to pay a Detroit appliance store owner, Steve Tibaudo, to find someone to kill Joe Gentz. Recordings of conversations between Tibaudo and Bashara discussing hiring a hitman for $20,000 were presented in 36th District Court earlier this year.
Gentz, who is charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy charges in the slaying of Jane Bashara, was in the courtroom today during Bashara's sentencing, the Detroit Free Press reported. Gentz's trial is set for Jan. 7 in Wayne County Circuit Court. Jane Bashara was found strangled in her SUV in Detroit last January.
Bob Bashara, named as a suspect in his wife's death, has not been charged in her murder case.

I love your comment "Bye Bye Big Bob". This man is nothing but an egotistical, narcicist. When I saw the news yesterday and he was crying I just wanted to reach out and "strangle" him. When Jane was found murdered, Bob went on the news and "faked" tears. Now he is facing some very serious time and I believe those tears are real. Seriously?? I hope he spends the rest of his life in jail. Doesn't matter if he as a "Rotarian" or not. How sad for his children and family to know this man has no remorse for his wife's life.

It strikes me funny that many in this country have no problem dropping bombs on women and children in any place deemed evil but this bum gets free food,medical and a place to sleep for what he did.We keep scum like muderers,rapists,pedophiles,etc.in cells because it would not be christian like to kill them but the other is called,[collateral damage] These are bad people that should be removed from the earth.They are just as evil as the Taliban or any other who harms anyone.What happened to an eye for an eye?We gotta stop acting like wimps.A woman dies a violent death and this guy gets free food, housing and meds.DUH!We all know the guy did it and even if not proven he tried to hire a hitman anyway to kill another.That's enough on it's own.

Paul while I agree with you that this human excrement should be drawn and quartered I won't lose sleep over him getting free food and a place to sleep. This guy's life is going to be hell compared to what he had. Prisons aren't exactly four star resorts and guards don't really care if you're getting abused on the reg.

Paul, I agree with you totally. However, I'm glad he's in jail and I hope he stays there for a very, very long time. He had his wife killed over some sexual sadism? How awful and sad is that.
