The former Lucy's space on the Hill is currently under renovation for a new restaurant, Luxe Bar and Grille.
A new restaurant will be opening on the Hill this spring named Luxe Bar and Grille. Construction is on-going in the former Lucy's restaurant at 115 Kercheval Ave.
Lucy's closed last summer permanently. A sign initially told passersby of a plumbing problem that needed to be fixed but the restaurant had been in default on financial obligations.
The new restaurant is currently underway, Grosse Pointe Farms Director of Public Service Terry Brennan said. The opening will likely be in late spring, he said, citing the pace of construction.
The restaurant is one of many new businesses to make the Hill its home in the last several months. Capricious, a high-end shoe and accessory store, opened in November next to the League Shop; Beaumont Grosse Pointe opened a Vein Center in the last two months; and F&H For the Home opened earlier this month in the former Bambu space featuring home decor and interior design services.
Additionally, Brennan said Talmer Bank is moving into 99 Kercheval Ave. That space is being renovated for the bank and will likely be ready in late April or in May, he said.
Additionally, American House Senior Living Center is preparing to complete renovations to the second and third floor of the former Cottage Hospital, Brennan said.

While it was sad to lose a GP classic like Lucy's, the announcement of Luxe Bar & Grille is great news. Anyone who has visited their location in Birmingham can tell you that Luxe will fit right in with the upscale vendors and restaurants found on The Hill.
It's nice to see that Grosse Pointe's business districts are each developing unique personalities to address the collective needs of residents. The Village is very family-centric, Mack offers lots of utility, and The Hill has a poshness to it. Most exciting are the Cotton's plans to inject some hipness/youth into West Park, which will hopefully attract the next generation of Pointers.
Good luck to Luxe and all of the new businesses that are helping to refresh our great community.

Lucy's was a classic because a lack of options. When the original owners opened it, they had the concept dialed-in. As soon as they sold it, it started a slow downward slide.
