Mack Avenue Grille to Open Soon
New owners have remodeled the former Mack Avenue Diner and will be featuring an updated menu. The transformed restaurant is to re-open in the next several weeks.
The Mack Avenue Diner is closed but the restaurant will reopen in the next several weeks as the Mack Avenue Grille featuring a new menu, one of the partners Elias Ropotos said.
He and a partner purchased the Mack Avenue Diner last August from the former owners with plans to eventually remodel and update the menu, he said during a brief interview with Patch.
The diner has been closed for weeks and the windows are blocked with paper. Signs posted in the windows note the remodel and mention the restaurant is looking to hire cooks, servers, dishwashers and bussers.
Grosse Pointe Woods Building Official Gene Tutag said the final inspection is likely going to happen within the next few weeks and the restaurant will be ready to open.
The diner's sign has been removed and new awnings and a sign feature the new name of Mack Avenue Grille. There is also a banner noting that the restaurant is "coming soon."
Ropotos did not provide more detail about the menu updates, the operation of the new restaurant or more specific information about what changes are being made in the building during the remodel.
The Mack Avenue Diner featured breakfast, lunch and dinner, offering traditional diner fare.

Know the new owners well and I'm sure this will be a welcome addition to the Woods community. Can't wait for opening!

I'm sure you're right Anthony! I'll be interested to see the changes both to the building and the menu.

Waiting a long time for food to arrive. When it did nothing the menu said came on it. Had to ask for it when told was not available. Sandwich purchased over priced for what you get. Slapped together with no meat in half. Was really hoping for good food. Soup was amazing. Breakfast looked amazing. But will not go back for lunch.
