Mason Parents Alerted to Inappropriate Calls

Two inappropriate phone calls of an explicit nature led to Grosse Pointe Woods police being present at Mason Elementary School Wednesday afternoon for dismissal.

Parents of Mason Elementary School students received a letter from Principal Elaine Middlekauff Wednesday detailing a situation that led to the presence of Grosse Pointe Woods police at dismissal.

According to the letter, Mason Elementary received two phone calls Wednesday afternoon from a blocked phone number during which the male caller said he wanted to take photos of girls and made comments of a sexual nature.

The calls were reported to police, who were present at dismissal a few hours later, according to the letter.

Students were advised to go home immediately Wednesday after dismissal and parents were urged in the letter to review "appropriate safety precautions" with their children in the letter.

The letter was sent home with students and states the situation was being shared "in the interest of sharing informatoin and maintaining communication with regard to student safety."
