Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney will open a private fundraising event Wednesday night with a photo reception at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club.

His stop in Grosse Pointe is one of many in the Detroit metro area, and it is by invitation only. 

Romney officially launched his presidential campaign June 2 in New Hampshire. Michigan is one of his first campaign stops. He also named several people to his Michigan campaign staff this week.

Attendance for the photo reception is $2,500 and to the general reception is $1,000, according to an invitation to the event, which is being paid for by the Romney for President Exploratory Committee Inc.

At the Grosse Pointe event, several well-known names from Detroit and Grosse Pointe are on the invitation, including Peter Karamanos, Curt Korneffle, Robert and Victoria Liggett, David and Sherry Cotton, and John and Marybeth Jagger. 

Patch is awaiting a return call from Romney's communications staff regarding additional information about tonight's event. 

Details of his Michigan appearances are not available on his website, but according to the Detroit Free Press, it began Tuesday with a dinner fundraiser and Romney was also expected to make a stop in Birmingham today.

Romney also has events scheduled in metro Detroit for Thursday, including an 8 a.m. stop in Livonia, where he'll be meeting with voters at Senate Coney Island Restaurant, 34359 Plymouth Rd.
