North Girls Swim, Dive Team Opens Season

The Grosse Pointe North High School girls swimming and diving team opened its season Tuesday against Livonia Stevenson.

The Grosse Pointe North Girls Swimming and Diving Team dropped its first dual meet to D1 top ten ranked Livonia Stevenson Tuesday night by a 129-56 margin.

Olivia Asimakis was a double winner taking the 100 yard butterfly and the 100 yard backstroke, while Emily Griffith took the 1 meter diving event.

Good performances were recorded in the following events:

50 yard freestyle: Emma Mathews, Katelyn Kohler, Julia Ellis, Laura Dobbs, Jillian Fenner, Susan Hartzell, Hannah Atherton, and Brooke Ford

100 yard freestyle: Stephanie Shea, Emma Mathews, Julia Ellis, Allison Fly, Grace Addy, Susan Hartzell, Jennifer Hawring, Amber Giesking, Lisa Zmyslowski, and Jillian Fenner

200 yard freestyle: Carrie Rakowicz, Stephanie Shea, Allison Fly and Karyn Schwartz

500 yard freestyle: Carrie Rakowicz, Ann Marie Nicholson and Karyn Schwartz

100 yard backstroke: Olivia Asimakis, Juliette Tripp, Caroline Tripp and Brooke Ford

100 yard breastroke: Kayleigh Gehlert, Sydney Eger and Amber Giesking

100 yard butterfly: Olivia Asimakis and Meghan Veltri

200 yard individual medley: Kayleigh Gehlert, Juliette Tripp, Laura Dobbs,  Caroline Tripp and Sydney Eger

1 meter diving: Emily Griffith.

North is now 0-1 (0-0 MAC Red) in dual meet competition.
