2011 entry: Heidi McClelland's daughter shows excitement and pure joy on her family’s first day of summer vacation this year on Intermediate Lake in Bellaire, MI,
“This picture is from our week up north with my in-laws,” said McClelland, of Saline. “They rent a different cottage somewhere up north every year. … This picture is of my daughter jumping off of the dock on our first day there. She just turned 8 years old, and was so excited to start our summer vacation!”
2011 entry: Beth Potts snapped the picture of her husband, Chris, navigating their canoe during their honeymoon.
2011 entry: This picture of my son (Nate) and husband (Andrew) was taken on Sept. 3 after the walkoff home run hit by Cabrera during the Tigers vs. White Sox game. The Tigers were down 8-1 at one point, and came back to win it in grand fashion. We love baseball in our family, and I think you can tell by this picture! What an amazing night of baseball with family, and GO TIGERS! -- Kristin Schreck

Editor's note: Week one of the contest is closed, but follow Patch each week week this summer for more installments!

Michiganians have a love affair with their state. From Up North to their own backyards, our state has an allure that cannot be denied. So why not share your visions of Michigan in photos in our Your Patch of Michigan photo contest, and possibly win a prize for doing so?

For the entire summer, we'll pick a winner every week based on voting by a panel of Michigan Patch editors. Each weekly winner will get a prize.

For the week of May 24-June 3 (a little longer this first time because of Memorial Day weekend), the prize is a $50 gift certificate to Katherine Lynn Salon in Troy.

After Labor Day, we'll pick a grand prize winner from all of the weekly winners.

The grand prize winner will receive a certificate for a two-night stay at Mission Point Resort on Mackinac Island (to be used before Oct. 31, 2013, and blackout dates and other restrictions may apply). The approximate retail value of the Grand Prize is $600.

Do you need to be Ansel Adams to win this? No. The single qualification for photos you send is that they say "Michigan" to you. If it oozes "Michigan," it qualifies.

How to enter Your Patch of Michigan contest

Here's how you can enter: We have a few photos here to start things out. To add your own images, first become a registered Patch user if you aren't already, then add to the photo gallery on this page.

In the photo caption area, be sure to include your real, full name and the place where the photo was taken, as well as any other relevant information about what the photo shows. The email address you use to register with Patch must be a working one so we can reach you should we have questions or should you be selected as a winner.

Each week, we'll have a new gallery and a new winner.

All photos must be posted by midnight each Sunday to be judged for that week. The first week's photos will be judged from May 24-June 3.

The contest is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 and older. And this wouldn't be a contest without a complete list of official contest rulesPlease, no more than three (3) entries per person per week. The winner will be selected each Monday, and must respond to notification within 48 hours.

If you aren't quite sure how to upload a photos, check out our step-by-step guide to uploading photos to Patch. If you still have trouble or have questions, email Associate Regional Editor Beth Valone at beth.valone@patch.com.
