Fifth graders from Maire Elementary sang "You'll Never Walk Alone" early in their promotion ceremony this week.

After a brief speeches from the principal, a teacher and four students, 58 Maire Elementary School students walked across the stage for their fifth grade promotion ceremony.

The graduation ceremony featured the fifth graders production of "You'll Never Walk Alone" as well as four student written and shared speeches.

Many parent volunteers lined the edges of the gymnasium, which were filled with fresh fruit, yogurt and granola parfaits, bagels and more for a reception that followed.

Students Isabel Kado, Olla Reisen, Cyndi Hogan and Evelyn Pacifici each gave a speech to their class about their time at Maire and the changes ahead.

Fifth grade teachers Donna Bednarczyk and Barb Davis along with Principal Sonja Franchett presented promotion certificates to the fifth graders, who walked across stage and shook hands with all of them before returning to their seat.

Parents filled the gymnasium, many taking photographs and videotaping the ceremony.
