Police Blotter: Bags of Charcoal Stolen from Kroger

police are investigating the theft of several bags of charcoal from on Mack Avenue after loss prevention officers reported the crime. A surveillance video shows a man pulling up in front of the store Aug. 27 shortly after 2 p.m. and loading up his car with bags of charcoal. The man is seen loading up 16 bags in the video. Loss prevention officers said he stole 45 bags, which is valued at about $485. Meanwhile, Kroger officials believe the man is hitting many of their stores as 129 bags were stolen from the Kroger in Harper Woods. Grosse Pointe Woods detectives are contacting detectives from Harper Woods and have put out a bulletin with the man's description, according to a report.

Copper Piping Stolen from Shores Home

A Grosse Pointe realtor reported to police that a house on Crestwood Drive was stripped of its copper piping and wiring Aug. 31. The realtor said he was last at the house nothing was missing or out of place but when he returned there were signs of someone else having been in the house, according to a report.

Potato Used to Damage Taillight

A 58-year-old Sault Sainte Marie man reported his taillight was damaged overnight while parked in the 500 block of Lochmoor Boulevard Sept. 3. The light damage was caused by a potato and pieces of a potato were found inside the taillight, according to a report.

Teen Arrested for Disorderly Conduct After Arriving Home Intoxicated

Grosse Pointe Woods police arrested a 19-year-old resident about 6:40 a.m. Sept. 2 for minor in possession by consumption and disorderly conduct after his mother called. She reported that he arrived home drunk and was making a scene outside. Officers arrived to find the teen intoxicated and having trouble standing up, according to a report.

Witnesses Alert Woman to Theft of Her Purse from Car

Grosse Pointe Woods police are investigating the theft of a purse from a vehicle parked near Mack and Anita Aug. 30. Two men saw two other men enter a car parked behind a restaurant and leave with a purse. They alerted the car's owner and she called police, according to a report.

Woods Rental Property Owner Reports Intimidation

A 73-year-old Grosse Pointe Woods man reported being intimidated by a neighbor of a rental property he owns on Torrey Road. The man said he was at his rental property and a man asked him to come across the street. The man then became aggressive with the property owner and told him not to rent the house to certain people--threatening that if he does, he knows who the owner is and where he lives. The property owner wanted the situation documented in case there is any problem in the future, according to  a report.

Drunk Driving Arrests

Grosse Pointe Shores police arrested a 35-year-old Grosse Pointe Park woman about 2:30 a.m. Sept. 3 for drunk driving after she was stopped for speeding on Lake Shore Road. The woman was driving 48 in a 35 mile per hour zone and when the officer approached, he smelled alcohol. She could not accurately complete field sobriety tests and had a preliminary breath test that showed she had a 0.14 percent blood alcohol content, according to a report.

Grosse Pointe Shores police arrested a 24-year-old St. Clair Shores man about 2:30 a.m. Sept. 2 for drunken driving after an officer spotted him weaving in and out of lanes and striking the curb near South Deeplands and Lake Shore Road. The man had slurred speech, was stumbling upon getting out of his car and smelled of alcohol. He had a 0.10 percent blood alcohol content, according to a report.
