For now, Lopus is concentrating on staffing Red Crown with the 68 employees that will include waitstaff, kitchen and bar employees.

Remodeling of the spaces for Red Crown and Bona Fide Bakery, located in the former Mulier’s Market, has progressed at a breakneck pace since Lopus announced her restaurants were coming to Grosse Pointe Park.

"It's gone really well...remarkably smoothly," Lopus said. "Working with the City has been phenomenal."

"We've had a great response from neighboring businesses.  Everyone has been so welcoming," Lopus continued.

Lopus said she is waiting for final approvals from the health department and liquor licensing for Red Crown, but doesn't expect any delays.

Red Crown will open on Jan. 22 for lunch and dinner and then for breakfast as well starting Jan. 26.  The restaurant will serve American homestyle favorites with a gourmet twist from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. on Friday and will be open for breakfast on the weekends from 8 a.m. - 11 p.m. on Saturday and until 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The menu will feature recipes that reflect Lopus' commitment to local, fresh produce.  Diners will enjoy American comfort food favorites with a Southern influence as well as wood fire grilled burgers and homemade ice creams.

Lopus' two other restaurant ventures, Bona Fide Bakery and Tallulah's, will open for business in the coming months.

Bona Fide Bakery will start with commercial support of Red Crown first and then open for retail in early to mid-February.  The restaurant will offer a full coffee and breakfast/lunch bar, Lopus said.

The final restaurant in the Silver Pig Restaurant Group's trifecta, Tallulah's, will open in late spring.

Tallulah's will feature a large outdoor dining area with stone fireplace, soaring gabled ceilings and a four-sided bar when it is completed.

"I'm really excited about it.  It's going to be beautiful and something totally unique," Lopus said.
