This Week in Grosse Pointe: Feb. 5

A few events happening in Grosse Pointe this week.

 

Here are a few events scheduled this week in Grosse Pointe:

1. The Grosse Pointe Woods city council will meet tonight. They will first meet as a committee of the whole beginning at 7 p.m., during which they will have a closed session to discuss labor negotiations. On the agenda for the council meeting, which begins at 7:30 p.m.:

  • an annual report from the planning commission for 2011
  • the extension of land use moritorium on medical marijuana
  • an amendment to an ordinance related to erosion and sedimentation control

2. The Grosse Pointe Farms council will also meet tonight beginning at 7 p.m. On the agenda:

  • a storm system update
  • a resolution related to the intent to issue bonds for upgrades to the Kerby Road pump station
  • the emergency expenditure of a temporary generator
  • the statement of fees for Dickinson Wright attorneys

3. The Eleanor & Edsel Ford House is hosting Quilt Art: International Expressions daily featuring 30 quilts by 22 artists from nine countries. This is the first time the quilt show has been shown in the U.S.

4. Grosse Pointe Park Little League is accepting applications for the 2012 season. Early registration continues through Feb. 1 and regular registration continues through March 1. The league is following a year of success after having three tema advance to states last year and win the state title.

5. Grosse Pointe Public Library millage supporters will provide details about the request that will go before voters Feb. 28. An informational forum Feb. 12 at Grosse Pointe Unitarian Church will allow for a short question and answer session.
