There are many events scheduled this week in the Grosse Pointes. Here are some of the highlights:

1. Grosse Pointe Shores Mayor Ted Kedzierski will hold office hours Friday July 13 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the municipal building. Those interested in attending should call to schedule an appointment, 313-881-6565.

2. The Detroit Symphony Orchestra will be performing at the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House Friday and Saturday, July 13 and 14. The concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. and fireworks will be at 9:30 p.m. Grounds open at 6 p.m. To purchase tickets in advance, call 313-576-5111.

3. Today is the last day to register to vote in the Aug. 7 primary election. Visit the appropriate city hall to register to vote.

4. There is a preview party of the artist decorated Grosse Pointe Perch Wednesday July 11 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House. This is the first public unveiling of the fish in completed form. The fish will be placed on the streets of the Pointes throughout the rest of the summer and eventually auctioned off to raise money for Services for Older Citizens. The event is organized by the Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce and the preview party is free. Families are encouraged to attend.
