This Week in Grosse Pointe: June 25

Here are some of the highlights from meetings and events scheduled in the Grosse Pointes this week.

 

Among the many events in the Grosse Pointes this week, here are a few of the highlights:

1. The Grosse Pointe Public School Board will meet Monday beginning at 7 p.m. According to the agenda, the board will take action on the following: 

  • a bid for the Parcells Pool entrance ramp and waterproofing
  • the 2012/13 fiscal year budget
  • a resolution in support of the regional enhancement millage
  • the renewal of Microsoft software
  • a variety of revised policies, including: employment of superintendent, staff discipline, termination and resignation, probationary teachers, student network and internet acceptable use and safety and staff network and internent acceptable use and safety
  • a modified policy regarding graduation requirements

The board will be advised of the following but not take action until the July meeting:

  • the school breakfast program
  • authorized debit/credit card users
  • tuition rates for 2012/13 school year
  • the superintendent's evaluation
  • a contract for food services

2. The Grosse Pointe Woods Planning Commission will meet Tuesday beginning at 7:30 p.m. According to the agenda, the commission will discuss the following:

  • land use and zoning on Mack Avenue
  • a future land use map
  • reports from a 2020 plan subcommittee and special sign subcommittee
  • building inspector Gene Tutag's monthly report

The planning commission is also hosting a planning workshop beginning at 6:30 p.m. the same day, to address land use and zoning on Mack Ave.

3. Grosse Pointe Farms city council is holding a special meeting Tuesday. Assistant City Manager and City Clerk Matthew Tepper said Monday the bids for the Kerby Road pump station upgrades and construction will be reviewed and approved during the meeting. Originally slated for the last council meeting, the bid process had to be extended past that date and the council did not want to delay progress since the July meeting will be held later in the month than normal due to the Fourth of July holiday.

4. The Grosse Pointe Park city council will meet Monday beginning at 7 p.m. According to the agenda, the council will discuss the following:

  • budget amendments to the 2011/12 fiscal year budget
  • the purchase of a asphalt patch machine for the public works department
