Grosse Pointe North teacher and girls basketball coach Gary Bennett received an honor today from U.S. Rep. Hansen Clark's office on his 500th win, during the Grosse Pointe Public School System open house on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012.

The Grosse Pointe Public School System held a district-wide open house on Sunday.

All of the district’s schools were open to current and prospective students.

Among the events:

  • Boy Scout troops held flag raising ceremonies at elementary schools in honor of Veterans Day.
  • Grosse Pointe North and South High Schools held an annual electronics recycling event.
  • Kerby Elementary School's choir sang.
  • Elementary gyms or libraries were open.

What a great event I'm looking forward to a report on the results possibly at a future School board meeting. All ready looking forward to next years open house if it is decided to continue..

The district wishes to thank all who attended and all who participated in carrying out such a successful event. It was a pleasure to celebrate all that our schools have to offer.
