Your mom was been there to kiss your tears away as a child, and to help you wrestle with life’s tough questions as you grew older. She’s special – and you want her to know it.
We invite you to share her story on Patch. Just upload a photo of your mom or other mother figure in your life – grandma, foster mother, mother-in-law – and tell us in the caption of the photo why the mom in your life rocks. Be sure to tell us what community you and your mom live in, too.
You just might win dinner at The Root Restaurant & Bar in White Lake – the Detroit Free Press' Restaurant of the Year – or a $50 gift card at Metals in Time in Royal Oak that we're giving away to moms who touch the lives of readers in our 29 Michigan Patch communities.
You have until Thursday, May 10, to share her photo and story on Patch. Three prize winners will be selected at random. In addition, each Patch site will choose one special mom to feature, so be sure to include where you live, too. We’ll announce the winners on Mother's Day, May 13.
We know that the special mom in your life just might be your guardian, grandmother, wife or even yourself, so don’t be shy about entering. We love all moms!

Contest rules
OK, now for the rules, because a contest has to have some rules:
- Open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 13 and older (if you are younger than 13, you can have an older friend or relative help you).
- To enter, upload a photo of you of your mom, grandmother or other significant mother figure in your life. Be sure to write a caption on the photo telling us what makes your mom so special. Include your mom's name and yours, as well as where each of you lives.
- All entries must be received by noon Thursday, May 10, 2012, Eastern Time. Winners will be contacted by email that day and must respond via email by midnight Friday, May 11, 2012 with their complete mailing address.
- Your name will be entered in the drawing just once, but you can share as many photos and comments as you like.
- Three winners will be selected at random. We will also crown one special mom per Michigan Patch site.
- The first-place winner will receive a gift card for The Root Restaurant & Bar in White Lake worth $50; second and third place winners will receive $50 gift cards to Metals in Time in Royal Oak.
