- Local every day in
For the past three and a half years, I have had the honor to serve the residents of Grosse Pointes, Harper Woods, and Detroit. I have tried to do so with the energy, integrity, and attention my diverse constituency deserves.
If you are reading this and you haven't seen me at coffee hour, townhall meeting, or at your doorstep during the past four years - you must have a very high fence.
My top priority is listening to the needs of our community. As a twenty-one year resident of Grosse Pointe City, a father of a Grosse Pointe South graduate, and owner of a dog who enjoys walking throughout the district (especially Balduck Park), I know firsthand how the decisions in Lansing will effect our community.
If elected to a third term in House of Representatives, I will continue to serve and listen to the needs of all the residents of the new House District 2.
I am proud to announce the endorsement of Grosse Pointe City Mayor Dale Scrace and Grosse Pointe Farms Mayor Jim Farquhar, Jr. for the August 7 primary. Mayor Scrace was gracious enough to say this about my effort in the Legislature:
"I have the pleasure of knowing and working with Tim over his two terms as our State Representative and find him extremely open, accessible and accommodating in helping me as the mayor on issues that effect the City of Grosse Pointe. He is always ready to offer assistance in helping us better understand and resolve issues when they arise. He is always focused on potential issues that may affect the Grosse Pointe communities and Grosse Pointe Public Schools."
Additionally, the following organizations that have endorsed my campaign:
The Detroit News
Detroit Free Press
Detroit Regional Chamber
Grosse Pointe Board of Realtors
Grosse Pointe Education Association

If you yourself are a dog owner, how can you continue to attempt to ban my chosen breed of dog- the American Pit Bull Terrier? How would you feel if I tried to seize and euthanize YOUR dog? This is why I and other APBT owners will not be voting for you. APBTs and other "bully breeds" do not bite any more frequently than other breeds- in fact, for every pit bull that bites, there are over 10 MILLION that don't. Cocker Spaniels on the other hand are every veterinarian's worst nightmare.
Breed Specific Legislation does not work- it does not decrease dog bites, it does not make our communities safer. The ones who end up hurt by BSL are the responsible owners who license their dogs and take them out in public to properly socialize them.

Check out the website of the American Temperament Testing Society- atts.org- and you will see that APBTs pass the standardized temperament test at a higher rate than Golden Retrievers- APBTs have an 86.8% pass rate, Golden Retrievers a 85.2% pass rate. It is the bad owners who are to blame, not my dogs. Introduce a bill to increase the severity of punishments for animal abusers, to make jail time mandatory. Pit Bulls are the victims in this, and punishment for those who abuse them is no worse than that of someone who runs a stop sign- in many cases much less severe.

Because of his steadfast resistance to the terrible Schools of Choice idea, I will be voting for Rep. Bledsoe.
