Kings win 1st Stanley Cup in franchise history

After year after year of dissapointment and playoff failures, the Los Angeles Kings have finally reached the mountaintop. They are the 2012 Stanley Cup champions thanks to a 6-1 blowout victory over the New Jersey Devils and a 4-2 win in the series.

Jonathan Quick the Kings All-Star goaltender was named MVP of the playoffs, but in truth, everyone on the Kings roster made significant contributions.

The path to the cup wasn't easy for the Kings. They had to go through Vancouver, St. Louis, Phoenix and New Jersey.

What really helped them in their cup run, was their ability to win on the road. The Kings went 10-1 in the playoffs. Their only loss was in Game 5 to the Devils.

So what's next for the Kings of LA? A summer to enjoy with the Stanley Cup, then it's back to work next year, looking to try and repeat as champions.
