This is the season of giving. We spend our days making lists and picking out the perfect gift for our loved ones. But perhapsthe greatest gift of all is NOT an Ipad or a new pair of shoes. Maybe the greatest gift we can give someone is time. Our hospice volunteers give the gift of time over and over again.
Often, the patients that our volunteers spend time with have no other visitors. They are lonely and in need of companionship. Our hospice volunteers dedicate an hour each week to read to the patient, hold their hand, listen to their stories. The people whom they vist have limited days left on this Earth, and our volunteers are there to remind them that they are cared about. Some of our volunteers also dedicate their time to supporting our office staff. Many of our large projects would not be completed if it weren't for the hands of our volunteers.
I wish "Happy Holidays" to our hopsice volunteer Angels. I invite others in the community to join our team, to feel the rewards in giving the gift of time and compassion.

Megan,
Thank you for your post. I could not agree more with your blog.
You might want to give information on how someone can become part of your team. Is there a website/phone/address a person can go to to learn more?
