Ford House Hosts 'Tea & Textile' Lecture

The Edsel & Eleanor Ford House has a new exhibit, Quilt Art: International Expressions on display through March 25.
Besides featuring more than 30 quilts by 22 contemporary quilt artists from nine countries. Ford House has several talks, workshops and receptions planned that feature local quilt artists and collectors.
Today it's time for Tea & Textile: Quilted Clothing, presented by local textile artist Michelle Mitchell. Guests will view the award-winning collection of Mitchell’s “wearable art,” which has garnered her numerous awards and learn about quilted clothig. The discussion and trunk show will be followed by tea and treats. Cost: $35, $30 for members.

Quilt Art is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission is complimentary with house tour tickets, which are $12 for adults, $11 for seniors, $8 for children 6-12, free for anyone younger.

More About Edsel & Eleanor Ford House
The Edsel & Eleanor Ford House gives visitors a glimpse into the lives of one of Detroit's most notable families through a variety of multimedia displays. The Albert Kahn-designed home was built in 1926 for the family and was later transferred to a trust to allow for public uses of the grounds of the estate.
Family events, concerts by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and lunch and dinners on the grounds are among a variety of events offered at the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House.
