Stroke Prevention Awareness
Windmill Pointe Park, 14920 Windmill Pointe Dr, Grosse Pointe Park, MI | Get Directions »
FREE
Strokes are caused by a brain blood clot or bleed. They are the third largest cause of death in the U.S. and one of the major causes of disability. Some risk factors for stroke can be modified through lifestyle changes and medications. Better outcomes result when a person having a stroke receives therapy within 4.5 hours. Thus, everyone should know the symptoms of strokes so that early treatment can be sought. The Grosse Pointe Sail Club, in conjunction with the Lavins Activity Center, will be offering a program to help people learn the signs and symptoms of stroke for early recognition and treatment. Dr. Dennis Parker, Pharm. D., Clinical Associate Professor of Pharmacy at Wayne State University and Pharmacy Specialist in neurotrauma at Detroit Receiving Hospital will be the presenter. He has received numerous teaching awards. Please join us for this informative presentation. Free will contributions will be accepted to offset costs. Seating is limited.
