Whistle Stop Hobby & Toy is once again holding its annual Lego Building Contest.
The contest is open to three age groups: 8 and under, 9-12 and over 13.
Children have until Saturday, Aug. 18, to enter their Lego creation. All entries should not exceed 18 inches x 18 inches x 18 inches in size, and organizers say originality counts.
All entries will be displayed in Whistle Stop's locked showcase for one week. During that time, customers will vote for their favorite Lego creation.
A $25 Whistle Stop gift certificate will awarded to the best creation in each age group. Winners will be announced Saturday, Aug. 25.
All creations must be picked up by Aug. 31.

This family-owned local toy and hobby store is every little and big kid's dream. It originally opened in St. Clair Shores as Whistle Stop Hobbies and Trains in 1969 and now carries an array of toys in addition to hobby and train items. Inside of its front door, there's a bulletin board filled with community news and event postings. Its turnstile entrance leads into well-marked and organized aisles of toys, games and puzzles for children of all ages. An expansive collection of toy and collectible trains are located along the store's back and side walls. Free gift wrap is available while you wait and online shopping is available on its website.
