'Doc Mike Pulls a Heavy Load'

Dr. Matthew Mike Fontana has retired after 63 years from general dentistry in Grosse Pointe Woods where he faithfully served the residents of Grosse Pointe since 1949!

Mayor Robert E. Novitke proclaimed 'Doc Mike' in recognition for his dedication, service and devotion to the community of Grosse Pointe Woods and surrounding communities. He was extended this proclamation by the Mayor with City Council, Administration, and other citizens of GPW, Michigan.

Dr. Fontana also received an honorary award from both the American & Michigan Dental Society's for his outstanding achievement serving the community for 63 years of service, representing 1 in 20 dentists nationwide. "He made a substantial impact not only as a dentist but as a builder, developer, realtor and landlord instilling a true sense of value in all that he undertook by setting high standards for others to emulate in their business and professional pursuits within Grosse Pointe Woods, stated Mayor Novitke."

He is responsible for building all the homes located on Fontana Lane (GPS), many on Hollywood (GPW), and in surrounding residential neighborhoods; and for attractive office buildings on Mack Avenue, east and west of Hollywood Clinic (GPW), where his dental practice has been located.

On September 27th, over 200 family and friends joined Doc Mike including Mayor Notvitke, City Council, business acquaintances, and loyal patients for over 60 years, to celebrate his 63 years of success.
