New Blended Public High School, Nexus Academy of Royal Oak, Accepting Students as School Year Approaches

Nexus Academy of Royal Oak, a new “blended” tuition-free public school near Detroit, is set to open its doors for the 2013-14 school year. Nexus Academy, which now has three locations throughout Michigan, delivers blended online and classroom learning in a non-traditional campus setting – an innovative choice for students seeking a flexible, yet challenging, school option. Nexus Academy of Royal Oak is the school’s newest location.

Families interested in learning more about Nexus Academy of Royal Oak are invited to register to attend a variety of Information Sessions, both online and in person, to learn more about the enrollment process, review the various class offerings, and discover if Nexus Academy is the right school for their student.

Redefining high school for 21st Century learners, Nexus Academy of Royal Oak offers a state-of-the-art physical campus where teachers interact with students both online and on-site. Additionally, campus-based “Success Coaches” help guide students through the school’s comprehensive online curriculum which includes AP courses, foreign languages, core academics and more. Among the engaging electives offered is Juilliard eLearning, online music courses developed exclusively with the famed conservatory. Students will be provided with a mobile computer and other technology tools; allowing them to work anywhere within the Nexus Academy school as well as beyond, 24/7.

 

“With our school’s unique learning model and flexible scheduling, we already have seen a high level of interest and anticipation from students and parents for the opening of Nexus Academy Royal Oak,” said Principal Dale Bernard. “We look forward to welcoming our first group of students and laying the foundation for a school committed to meeting the individualized needs of each student and delivering exceptional academic results.”  

 

Nexus Academy of Royal Oak will enroll a maximum of 300 students to ensure optimal personal attention. The school is located at 31333 Southfield Road, Suite 200, in Beverly Hills.

 

The school is authorized by The Governor John Engler Center for Charter Schools at Central Michigan University, and is governed by a local Board of Directors. Its curriculum and other services are provided through contract by Connections Learning by Pearson, a division of Connections Education, a leading provider of high-quality, highly accountable online and blended learning accredited by AdvancED.
