Bites Nearby: Dylan's Raw Bar & Grille

This week's Bites takes us to Dylan's Raw Bar & Grille.

Each week, Grosse Pointe Patch editors and readers will pick a great restaurant either in town or nearby whose cuisine is considered to reign supreme.

Here's this week's choice:

As I sit in Dylan's at 5:00 p.m. on a sunny Monday evening, the crowd is decidedly over 60.  One thing about the over the 60 crowd, they know where to dine well at a decent price.  From 4-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, Dylan's has 10 Early Diner Specials including Chicken Piccatta, Hickory Planked Whitefish, Pasta Alfredo with Chicken or Rock Shrimp, and more.

Happy Hour also goes from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Appetizer, sandwich, and drink specials galore.  Don't miss the spinach and artichoke dip.

Every Sunday all sushi is half off.  You can't beat half off sushi.

Complete list of specials can be found here.

Sushi:  Most places have similar nigiri options.  The rolls allow sushi chefs to show off.  All of the classic rolls are there - California, spicy tuna, and more.  If you're into heat, give the Hot Hot Hot roll a try.  A mix of 4 fish, rolled, battered, and deep fried.  Topped with spicy sauce and diced fresh jalapeno.  It is definitely hot and it is a lingering heat brought on by the jalapeno.

Small Plates: Not in the mood for an entree? Dylan's has cold, hot, and fried bites menu.  Cold consists mostly of salads - Classic Wedge, Spinach, or Crab Louie are all viable options.

Fried options include Fried Chesapeake Oysters, Tempura pickle chips, and Parmesan garlic onion rings.  If you've never had a fried pickle, you need to try one.

From the hot portion of the menu, lobster mac & cheese, Blue crab nachos, and triple garlic shrimp stuffed portabella are seafood slanted options.  Seafood is Dylan's forte, so you can't go wrong with any of their seafood options.  However, do not by any means skip over the spinach and artichoke dip.  Served with crusty bread, this dip is a salty, savory, and nutty joy to eat.

Entrees: If small plates aren't enough for your big appetite, have no fear - there are a number of entree choices, too.  Short ribs, paella, and grouper and chips are a few of the options.  Prices range from $15.49 up to $30.49.  Remember though, early bird special are available Monday through Saturday.

Dessert: Key Lime Pie, Chocolate Cake, and Hot Fudge Cream Puff were all available when I visited.
