Overview: Open seven days a week, Harvard Grill is a classic diner. Homemade daily specials that showcase comfort foods are in the blue plate special vein of the 1950s. Waitresses call you “hun” and the ambiance is perfectly homey. More of a burger and sandwich spot, it is definitely possible to eat a filling meal for under $10 no matter when you visit.

Breakfast: Served all day. Pancakes, omelettes, cheese blintzes are just a few of the options. The Monday through Friday Breakfast Special is 2 eggs, hash browns, ham, bacon, or sausage, and toast for $3.99. If you add grits and a coffee, the total is $7.78, that's under $10 for a breakfast that will stick with you all day long.

Salads: For those trying to stay healthy, the Grilled Chicken Breast Salad ($6.65) has an intriguing mix of greens, raisins, and walnuts topped with grilled chicken, and hard boiled egg. It served with a house made honey mustard dressing. Greek, Chef, and Cobb salads among others are also available.

Sandwiches: An extensive list of sandwiches takes up a whole portion of the menu. From Gyros to Club to diner classics like open-faced hot turkey sandwiches, there is a sandwich for everyone with most under $8. The Chicken Rancher ($5.95) with grilled chicken, bacon bits, ranch dressing, cheddar cheese, lettuce and tomato in a pita is fresh and bright with just enough crispy, salty bacon and creamy ranch to make it taste just right.

Entrees: From coney islands to beef stroganoff, a number of entree and daily specials are available and all are $12.50 or under. Tuesday's meatloaf is served with mashed potatoes, vegetables, and a roll for under $9. There aren't many dishes more American than meatloaf .

Dessert: Like any good metro Detroit diner, hot fudge sundaes with Sanders Hot Fudge are a must.  Homemade rice pudding is another diner mainstay and Harvard's version is as good as any of them.

Signature Dish: You cannot go wrong with any of the daily specials.
