Community Corner

National Arab American Day of Service

Please join us for the 8th Annual National Arab American Service Day (NAASD).   This is a historic, national event where Arab Americans join communities across the country in a day of service to foster and encourage volunteerism and service among diverse communities.

From Anaheim, to Boston, NNAAC members and participating organizations will partner with organizations outside of their own community to serve all Americans, while demonstrating that Arab Americans are united in their desire to lend a hand to those in need and create strong community ties.

I urge you to come out on this day to show your support and work together to strengthen our communities, build civic participation in our neighborhoods, and form a foundation for the future.

Here, in Metro Detroit, service day will take place on Saturday, May 19 at 10:00 AM at Belle Isle. We will be cleaning the old zoo, and cleaning the park of debris and invasive plants. There will be transportation provided, with shuttles leaving from two locations at 9:30 am and leaving the site at 4:00 pm.  A flyer is attached with more information.

Please dress appropriately for outdoor work, and fill out the attached registration form and bring it with you as well.
