A few quit bits of information to get the day started in Grosse Pointe.

Five quick items to get the day started in Grosse Pointe: 

1. Today will be a sunny day with temperatures reaching 80, according to the National Weather Service. It'll remain mostly clear into the night, when temperatures will dip to 65. 

2. Today is the filing deadline for anyone wishing to run for elected office in November. Stay tuned for updates on races throughout the Grosse Pointes. Political campaigning will be in full swing soon.

3. Grosse Pointe Woods Council unanimously approved a resolution to oppose the Schools of Choice mandate proposed by Gov. Rick Snyder. The resolution was immediately certified and will be send to the Governor this week as a matter of getting their opposition heard and known early.

5. In case you missed it, an expert hired by the Grosse Pointe Public Safety ad hoc committee is . The committee is hopeful to receive feedback from the study in October.
