Five quick pieces of information to get your day started in Grosse Pointe: 

1. Today is to be sunny but windy, according to the National Weather Service. The temperature will reach 81 with winds ranging between 12 to 15 miles per hour but gusts as high as 23 miles per hour. Rainshowers might be hitting at night with a 60 percent chance for thunderstorms before and after 11 p.m.

2. Grosse Pointe Public School Board passed a variety of agenda items Monday, including:

  • a calling for Thomas Harwood to earn $700,000
  • the recall of several teachers as a measure to address actual enrollment figures
  • a small addition of staff for elementary schools to enable a scheduling change to better incorporate Spanish and library skills classes

During a work session, the board also tabled its own action originally scheduled for Monday night regarding the district's new strategic plan, which is still be developed. 

3. , the owner says. The future restaurant will feature natural, local, organic ingredients offered as a healthier option along with locally brewed, gluten-free beers.

4. The Grosse Pointe Woods planning commission plans to begin its second review the city's ordinance limiting the sale of second-hand goods to 25 percent or less of a business' merchandise. The review comes at the request of the city council following their denial to the Neighborhood Club Thrift Shop, which wanted to move into a vacant store front on Mack Avenue. The meeting begins at 7 p.m.

5. Several decisions in Lansing affecting representation of the Grosse Pointes have spurred the Grosse Pointe Park city council to take action. .
