Tonight it'll cool to 79 and more is in store for Thursday with temperatures soaring to 97 and heat index values in the triple digits. In addition to the air quality alert there is an excessive heat warning too. 

2. The City of Grosse Pointe will for businesses in the Village. The topic came up during the council's approval of an awning that exceeds the normal length restrictions. 

3. In case you missed it, that . It's been purchased by the Fruehaufs, who are already renovating it and getting it back into shape for their own business dealings. Kudos to eliminating one more foreclosed property.

4. Grosse Pointe Shores Councilman Dan Schulte and about 15 residents are gathering . 

5. Grosse Pointe Woods employees saved about $500,000, during the last fiscal year--an amount pleasing to city department heads and council alike. The money will help the Woods bridge the future lean financial situation in the coming years, Treasure Dee Ann Irby says.
