Five things to get your day started in Grosse Pointe.

A few quick items to start your day in Grosse Pointe. 

1. Today will be mostly sunny with highs near 84, according to the National Weather Service. The clear conditions will remain through Saturday but turn partly cloudy Saturday night. Sunday is expected to have temperatures nearing 85 with mostly sunny skies. 

2. The president of the Grosse Pointe Education Association--the teacher's union--was for her dedication in more than 30 years in the education field.

3. Grosse Pointe Shores will celebrate it's 100th year as a community this weekend. Many events are scheduled, including the ribbon-cutting of the Schroeder Park Fieldhouse, pool games, a presentation about the history and a parade along Lake Shore Road.

  • Grosse Pointe Park and a newly created foundation to benefit the city joined forces fill the high vacancy rate of the Park's rental district.
  • Grosse Pointe Farms police of stealing possessions from unoccupied vehicles.
