Good Morning Grosse Pointe: June 24

Five things to get your day started in Grosse Pointe.

Here are a few items that may help you get your day started.

1. It's cooling off today. According to a National Weather Service forecast, there is a 50 percent chance of scattered showers during the day with a high of 65-degreees and the evening will remain mostly cloud dipping to 56-degrees.

2. Interstate 94 will close at 10 p.m. Friday and reopen at 5 a.m. Monday at the 696 interchange, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation. A sign on I-94 has already been warning of the closure, which is part of a $70 improvement project for the I-94 corridor in Wayne, Macomb and St. Clair counties.

3. Need a caffeine fix to get the day started? The Mack Avenue has re-opened after a speedy remodel. Patch hasn't been in yet, but plans to stop in today to check out the new look. 

4. The fireworks extravaganza begins today with a display in St. Clair Shores tonight but the list continues well into July, including the Grosse Pointe Woods show on Sunday. Missed the list yesterday? Find it here to decide which show you'll watch light up the night sky.

5. The 2011 Detroit A-list is currently collecting votes for businesses throughout the metro area and  in Grosse Pointe Woods is being considered for Best Pet Supplies category. You can vote here if you'd like to help them jump to first place. Voting ends Aug. 12.
