A few quick bits of information to get the day started in Grosse Pointe.

Five quick pieces of information to get the day started in Grosse Pointe:

1. With mostly sunny conditions and a high near 59, the day will be windy, according to the National Weather Service, which is calling for 14 to 23 mile per hour winds and gusts of up to 32 miles per hour. Similar conditions will persist at night but it will be mostly cloudy with a low of 43.

2. Senator Bert Johnson is holding coffee hours this morning at Caribou Coffee on Mack Avenue beginning at 8:30 a.m. Johnson encourages residents to visit, ask questions, inform him of concerns or address other issues.

3. council will meet tonight at 7 p.m. The agenda is short and includes a review of minutes from various committee meetings, contract review for telephone services and for SMART busing services.

4. The council also meets tonight at 7 p.m. The agenda includes site plan reviews for three businesses, including the Neighborhood Club Thrift Shop, and a public hearing regarding the Mack Avenue Water Main replacement/street scape project slated for 2012.

5. Also this week, U.S. Representative Hansen Clarke is holding a forum he's calling "A Conversation with your Congressman" from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Grosse Pointe South High School. The meeting will be town hall style and is intended to allow residents to ask questions about the current issues in the district, state and at a national level.
