A few quick bits of information to get the day started in Grosse Pointe.

1. Bring the umbrella today, according to National Weather Service there is a 40 percent chance of rainshowers and thunderstorms with a high near 78 and winds between 15 to 17 miles per hour with gusts reaching 29 miles per hour. Partly cloudy conditions will remain tonight with a low of 53. 

2.   council meets tonight with a committee of the whole meeting beginning at 6 p.m. A council meeting follows at 7 p.m. The agenda has a variety of topics including:

  • a shared court agreeement with Grosse Pointe Farms
  • a resolution concerning Schools of Choice
  • discussion about a committee to be formed to study leaving Wayne County and moving into Macomb County
  • resurfacing of Lake Shore Road 

3. who came to the regularly scheduled meeting Monday concerning flooding in their homes until the special meeting Thursday. City officials want residents to submit questions now so they may provide researched answers to residents during the meeting at Grosse Pointe War Memorial Thursday. 

4. Grosse Pointe Woods approved efforts to fight redistricting by the state that divides the single district representing all of the Grosse Pointes and Harper Woods. They will spend up to $4,000 to hire a law firm to investigate and possibly fight it.

5. in an effort to carry out his late father dream of doing so himself. The second-grader wore his father hat all the way into his classroom on the first day and it garnered such positive response Maire officials want to auction off such a ride on the first day at an upcoming event.
