Good Morning Grosse Pointe: Sept. 2

A few quick bits of information to get the day started in Grosse Pointe.

Five quick pieces of information to get the day started in Grosse Pointe:

1. Today is going to be a warm one, kicking off the long weekend with mostly sunny conditions and temperatures nearing 92, according to the National Weather Service. There is a 40 percent chance of rain at night with temperatures dropping to 72.

2. Reminder, Grosse Pointe Woods city offices are closed for a furlough day today. For the other Grosse Pointes, today is the last day city offices are open until Tuesday Sept. 6 because of the holiday. This means garbage removal is set back by one day throughout next week.

3. Traveling this weekend? The Michigan Department of Transportation is lifting lane restrictions in 82 of its 147 current road project across the state beginning at 3 p.m. today through 6 a.m. Tuesday Sept. 6. Some restrictions will remain but the goal is to ease traveling conditions for Michiganders.

4. Love your Grosse Pointe block? . The contest closes today and all nominations are due by 5 p.m. Tell us why your block is awesome and deserving.
