Five quick pieces of information to get the day started in Grosse Pointe: 

1. Today will be mostly cloudy with 50 percent chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms and a high near 76, according to the National Weather Service. It'll remain partly cloudy with a low near 56 tonight. 

2. Grosse Pointe Farms teenager . Missing since Aug. 31 when , she met with her mother Monday afternoon at the urging of a friend. Her mother, Michelle Pittel, is thankful for the outpouring of support from the community and beyond.

3. The Michigan Senate Education Committee will hear testimony today about the package of education reform bills currently being considered by the legislature. The hearing begins at noon in Lansing and Schools of Choice is the last bill on the agenda

4. as part of a larger project to improve the business corridor in the City of Grosse Pointe. The project includes the replacement of a water main and streetscape improvements.

5. Donate blood Thursday in the parking lot of the municipal building. The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be there accepting donations from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call 313-881-5503 to schedule an appointment.
