A few quick bits of information to get the day started in Grosse Pointe.

Five quick pieces of information to get the day started in Grosse Pointe:

1. Yes, more rain. A 70 percent chance, in fact. Today's weather will be cloudy, with a high near 65 and winds from the south-southeast at 5-9 mph. Tonight, the temperature will drop to a low around 54, with the chance of rain decreasing to 40 percent. Winds will be south-southeast around 5 mph, then becoming calm.

2. Grosse Pointe Woods Planning Commission voted unanimously Tuesday to recommend that the city council make no changes to the second-hand and used goods ordinance restricting total consignment shops from Mack Avenue. The ordinance was reviewed after council in August by the owners of a Mack Avenue storefront wishing to rent space to the Neighborhood Club Thrift Shop.

3. The Grosse Pointe Theatre production of The Music Man will have its final run this week with showtimes at 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial. Check out the behind-the-scenes blog about the show by Tim Reinman, who plays the lead character, Harold Hill.

4. The Beautification Commission named 11 residential winners for 2011, three businesses and gave special recognition to a block for their work to improve their properties. Check out our of the award winners.

5. Grosse Pointe Park resident in the Month at the Museum 2 contest in which the winner will live in the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago for one month and receive $10,000. An online poll will determine the winner. Voting takes place from now until Oct. 3 at msichicago.org/matm.
