Grab & Go Kids Planner

Black History Month educational opportunities, a day of dance, and pancakes, all picked fresh for you.


Where/When: Grosse Pointe Public Library, Woods Branch; Tuesday, Feb. 22, from 1-2 pm.
Why Go: Whether you're celebrating Black History Month or just curious about other cultures, this is a great way to do it. Kids will learn about African Kente Cloth and enjoy making a special craft from Ghana.
Pricing: Free, but please pre-register.


Where/When: St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tuesdays, from 4-5 pm.
Why Go: Have some quality time with your youngster as they enjoy arts and crafts at St. Paul's in St. Clair Shores.
Pricing: Free. Call ahead to reserve a spot, however.


Where/When: Grosse Pointe War Memorial, Saturday, Feb. 26, from 10 am-2 pm.
Why Go: Dance is good for the body and the spirit, so bring the whole family for dance lessons from area studios, learn tips for better health and receive free health screenings.
Price: Free.

Where/When: Grosse Pointe Woods Community Center, Sunday, Feb. 27, 10 am-3 pm.
Why Go: Moms and sons will make magical memories with this movie date, where they'll see Disney-Pixar's animated movie, Up. Two showings are planned, one at 10 am for ages 2-5; and one at 1 pm, for ages 6-10.
Cost: $4 per person.


Where/When: St. Joan of Arc Knights of Columbus 8695, Sunday, Feb. 27.
Why Go: For family, fellowship and/or to help the Knights of Columbus. Or if you just really love pancakes. It's all good.
Pricing: $6 for adults, $5 seniors 55 and up, $4 kids 5 and under. Call 586-879-7610 for details.
