Grab & Go Kids Planner: Dancing, Books & Class

Family-friendly picks for the week include self-defense, babysitter basics and daddy-daughter dances.

Use our weekly list of family friendly activities in the Pointes to fill up your calendar or maybe find something new to do this week. 


Where/When: Grosse Pointe Public Library-Ewald Branch, Monday, March 14, 7-8 pm.
Why Go: Mothers and daughters (in grades four and five) can gather and discuss books and more.
Pricing: Free.


Where/When: Grosse Pointe War Memorial, Wednesday, March 16, 4:30-5:30 pm.
Why Go: Children face threats every day, from abductions and assaults to bullying and other forms of violence. This one-hour class will teach children ages 7-11 that they have the right to safety and protection, and they'll learn life-saving tips.
Pricing: $15 per person.

Where/When: Grosse Pointe War Memorial, Saturday, March 19, 9:30 am-2:30 pm.
Why Go: Kids age 11 and older who have to or will have to care for younger family members, or those who plan to make some money babysitting will find this class essential. They'll learn disciplinary actions, first aid, basic childcare and more.
Pricing: $56 per person.


Where/When: Grosse Pointe South High School, Saturday, March 19, 7-9 pm.
Why Go: All five Grosse Pointes are joining together to hold a Daddy-Daughter dance in hopes of a bigger, bolder tradition. It's a semi-formal affair, with appetizers, music, and more.
Pricing: $8 per person. Reserve your spot ahead of time.
