Grosse Pointe Yoga Shelter to Be Part of Record Yoga Session at Ford Field

The Yoga Shelter is one of the organizers of an attempt to break a world-record for a yoga session.

Ford Field in Detroit has hosted high-profile events including the Super Bowl, Frozen Four, the Final Four, and in February, it will be the site of an attempt to break a world record for people taking part in yoga session.

More than 3,000 Metro Detroiters are expected to be part of a record-setting yoga session Saturday, Feb. 22, at Ford Field.

The Yoga Shelter of Grosse Pointe is one of the organizers of “Yoga Rocks Ford Field,” which will bring together yoga fans of all ages and skill levels together for the world record-breaking yoga session and charitable effort. 

“Yoga Rocks Ford Field” will showcase the positive things going on in Detroit, and will highlight the great companies that are working together to make Detroit a better place to Live, Work & Play,” said Nicole Yoder, COO of Yoga Shelter, in a release.
 
The Yoga Shelter will have its nationally-renowned instructor, Eric Paskel, teach his unique style of yoga that rocks and awakens. The class will culminate in a dancing celebration, according to organizers.  

Funds raised at the event will benefitting the Yoga By Design Foundation, which provides fitness programs for underserved populations. Additionally, the event will highlight the Detroit Lions commitment to the health and wellness of the community.  ComePlayDetroit and Yoga Shelter are joining with the Detroit Lions, Quicken Loans, Michelob Ultra and Lululemon Athletica to organize the event.
 
Registration for the session begins at 8:30 a.m. with the session starting promptly at 9:45 a.m. on the field. Early-bird registration is $25 and runs through January 31, 2014 with the cost increasing to $30 beginning February 1, 2014. “This event will bring together the city and suburbs, to provide the community an opportunity to be a part of this one-of-a-kind experience, while also getting to see first-hand all of the positive changes going on in the city,” said Justin Jacobs, founder of Come Play Detroit.
 
At the event, Yoga Shelter will have its nationally renowned instructor, Eric Paskel, teaching his unique style that rocks and awakens, with the class culminating in a dancing celebration. Eric has taught tens of thousands of yoga classes, trained hundreds of people to teach yoga and leads retreats and workshops around the world.
