Patch Picks: Great Non-Profits

This list just skims the surface of great Grosse Pointe non-profit organizations ranging from those offering service to the whole community to some serving specific populations.

This list was hard to generate. There are so many great non-profit organizations working for good causes. The list could be never-ending, but here are five from the Pointes that are working hard to make the world a better place.

  • Full Circle Upscale Resale
    Not only does this store offer gently used quality clothing for purchase, but it provides work and business training to young adults with special needs for real life experience. It is a joint effort with the Association of Retarded Citizens, or ARC, and Grosse Pointe Schools. 
  • Services for Older Citizens
    An organization offering help to seniors from meal delivery, home repairs, social activities and much much more. What an invaluable resource this organization is for our community's older citizens. 
  • Judson Center Grosse Pointe
    This organization offers services for children and adults with special needs, including a summer camp, after school programs and support services for families. It took over the former Foundation for Exceptional Children.
  • Grosse Pointe Foundation for Public Education
    This organization shows its passion to constantly improve the learning environment for Grosse Pointe students with its tireless efforts to raise money to donate to the schools. Technology has been infused throughout the district as a result of the foundation's efforts. 
  • Grosse Pointe War Memorial 
    This is a great community resource that not only maintains a historic site of value to the residents but also offers a variety of classes, lectures and other events daily.
